Command Corrugated

Inspired by a need for a portable studio chair I set out to create something that was inviting and empowering. I though of various types of power chairs, thrones, study chairs, and command center chairs from some of my favorite Sci-Fi ships.
Once I created the basic shape I tested it and noted that stacked edges of cardboard were rather sharp and uncomfortable. Taking design nods from the scrappy engineering of the Millenimum Falcon and Firefly's Serenitiy, I covered the edges with cardboard scraps.
After finding a stack of cardboard boxes outside my workspace, I began to experiment with the material. Impressed by its sturdyness when stood on end I dedcided to use it as my building material. I found that it was much stronger when folded rather than cut so I used various oragami folds to create the basic shape.
The final product used about 7 cardboard boxes, is 100% recycleable, weighs less than 10 pounds, and is the perfect spot in my studio to take a doodle break in.
